Came blithely in like a breath of fresh air? (7)
I believe the answer is:
breezed
'came blithely' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with motion as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps you can see a link between them that I can't see?
'like a breath of fresh air?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'air?' could be 'breeze' ('breeze' can be a synonym of 'air') and 'breeze' is found within the answer.
A single letter 'd' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'in' is the link.
