Crossword Genius

Finished bottom? Here's lift (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

uprear

'lift' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'finished bottom?' is the wordplay.
'finished' becomes 'up' (eg 'time's up' means the time is finished).
'bottom?' becomes 'rear' ('rear' can be a synonym of 'bottom').
'up'+'rear'='UPREAR'

'here's' is the link.

(Other definitions for uprear that I've seen before include "Raise up, erect or elevate" , "Set upright" , "Rise suddenly" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
