French bread you proved, one hears (5)
I believe the answer is:
euros
'french bread' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'you proved one hears' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'you' could be 'u' (homophones) and 'u' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'eros' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for euros that I've seen before include "Monetary units" , "French coins and notes" , "currency in Greece" , "Common currency" , "money" .)
