My new strong horse gets some maize (7)
I believe the answer is:
corncob
'some maize' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how one could define the other.
'my new strong horse' is the wordplay.
'my' becomes 'cor' (both are expressions of surprise).
'new' becomes 'n' (abbreviation as in New Testament NT).
'strong horse' becomes 'cob' (type of horse. I am not sure about the 'strong' bit.).
'cor'+'n'+'cob'='CORNCOB'
'gets' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for corncob that I've seen before include "Middle of ear" , "Hard section of a ear of maize" , "Woody centre of an ear of maize" , "it's attached to grain" , "Head of maize" .)
