Crossword Genius

Tissue-wrapped gold halo (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

gloria

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'halo' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'tissue-wrapped gold' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'gold' could be 'or' ('or' is the heraldic name for gold) and 'or' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'glia' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for gloria that I've seen before include "contribution to mass production" , "Girly part of the Mass?" , "song used by worshippers" , "Doxology" , "Part of the Mass; name" .)
