Crossword Genius

a good deal may come from it (10)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

timberyard

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'a good' is the definition.
Both the definition and answer are singular nouns.
Maybe you can see an association between them that I don't see?

'deal may come from it' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'deal' could be 'timber' (I've seen this before) and 'timber' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'yard' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Another definition for timberyard that I've seen is " supplier of building materials".)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian and The Globe and Mail.
