Be present at a motorcycle race finish (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

attend

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'be present at' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'a motorcycle race finish' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'a' is present in the answer.
'race' could be 'tt' and 'tt' is found in the answer.
'finish' could be 'end' (synonyms) and 'end' is located in the answer.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for attend that I've seen before include "put in an appearance" , "Go regularly to (school)" , "Take part in" , "notice" , "Go regularly to, church perhaps" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
