Cast out material, completely out of time (5)
I believe the answer is:
exile
'cast out' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'material completely out of time' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'out of' could be 'ex' ('out of' in Latin) and 'ex' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ile' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for exile that I've seen before include "Drive away" , "Expulsion from one's country" , "Send away" , "Outcast" , "Person banished from the home country" .)
