Consecutive notes in descending scale heard until now (2,3)

I believe the answer is:
so far
'until now' is the definition.
(both can mean up to the current point)
'consecutive notes in descending scale heard' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'notes' could be 'fa' and 'fa' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'sor' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for so far that I've seen before include "To this point" , "till now" , "Up until the present moment" , "to a certain degree" .)
