Crossword Genius

Ross

I believe the answer is:

unnerve

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'disconcert' is the definition.
(I know that unnerve is a type of disconcert)

'jogger heading off vest half-exposed' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'heading' could be 'nne' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'nne' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for unnerve that I've seen before include "Faze" , "Make to feel uneasy" , "Rattle" , "worry" , "Cause to lose confidence" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
