Drink the setter knocked over Pole? (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

totem

'pole?' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'drink the setter knocked over' is the wordplay.
'drink' becomes 'tot' (I've seen this before).
'the setter' becomes 'me' (the setter of the clue).
'knocked over' shows that the letters should be reversed in order.
'me' in reverse letter order is 'em'.
'tot'+'em'='TOTEM'

(Other definitions for totem that I've seen before include "(Tribal) emblem" , "Primitive object of worship" , "Clan's emblem" , "Animal as clan symbol" , "Spiritually significant emblem" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
