Finally fed up with editor being misled (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

duped

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'misled' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with communicating as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps you can see a link between them that I can't see?

'finally fed up with editor' is the wordplay.
'finally' indicates one should take the final letters.
'with' says to put letters next to each other.
'editor' becomes 'ed' (abbreviation).
The last letter of 'fed' is 'd'.
'd'+'up'+'ed'='DUPED'

'being' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for duped that I've seen before include "Cheated" , "Bamboozled" , "Taken for a ride" , "Hoodwinked and misled" , "Tricked" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
