Crossword Genius

Here in Ireland, couple's without love (largely what love is, they say) (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

dublin

'here in ireland' is the definition.
(Irish city)

'love largely what love is they say' is the wordplay.
'love' becomes 'du' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'largely' means to remove the last letter.
'what love is they say' becomes 'blind' (proverbially, 'love is blind').
'blind' with its last letter taken away is 'blin'.
'du'+'blin'='DUBLIN'

'couple's without' is the link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may be part of another bit of the clue.

(Other definitions for dublin that I've seen before include "Capital of Ireland" , "City of 1 across" , "Capital of Eire" , "Ulysses city (Joyce)" , "Capital of 8" .)
