How to surpass in competence (7)
I believe the answer is:
capably
'how' is the definition.
Both the definition and answer are adverbs. Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?
'surpass in competence' is the wordplay.
'surpass' becomes 'cap' (I've seen this before).
'in competence' becomes 'ably' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'cap'+'ably'='CAPABLY'
'to' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Another definition for capably that I've seen is " Showing competence".)
