Crossword Genius

Impropriety in wrong code - strange (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

indecorum

'impropriety' is the definition.
('indecorum' can be a synonym of 'impropriety')

'in wrong code strange' is the wordplay.
'wrong' indicates an anagram.
'strange' becomes 'rum' (I've seen this before).
'code' with letters rearranged gives 'deco'.
'in'+'deco'+'rum'='INDECORUM'

(Other definitions for indecorum that I've seen before include "lack of decency!" , "impropriety" , "Naughty behaviour" , "Lack of propriety" , "Bad behaviour" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
