Crossword Genius

Lawyer from the Middle East in a Beetle (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

scarab

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This clue could be a double definition.

'lawyer from the middle east' is the first definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't see how one could define the other.

'beetle' is the second definition.
(I know that scarab is a type of dung beetle)

'in a' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for scarab that I've seen before include "Sacred dung-beetle" , "Sacred Egyptian beetle" , "Sacred beetle of ancient Egypt" , "Type of beetle" , "old lucky charm" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish Times.
