Crossword Genius

Man one about to find church (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

basilica

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'church' is the definition.
(I know that basilica is a type of church)

'man one about to' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'man' could be 'basil' (I've seen this before) and 'basil' is found in the answer.
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is located in the answer.
'about' could be 'ca' (short for circa) and 'ca' is found in the answer.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'find' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for basilica that I've seen before include "Romanesque church" , "Large Christian church with two rows of columns and apse at one end" , "Roman style of building" , "Important Roman Catholic church" , "Roman-style church" .)

I've seen this clue in The Sun.
