Ross

I believe the answer is:

sno-cat

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'arctic vehicle?' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'number getting cold aboard fixed' is the wordplay.
'number' becomes 'no' (abbreviation for 'number').
'getting' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'cold' becomes 'c' (eg on taps).
'aboard' indicates putting letters inside.
'fixed' becomes 'sat' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'no'+'c'='noc'
'noc' inserted into 'sat' is 'SNO-CAT'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for sno-cat that I've seen before include "Arctic vehicle" , "Winter vehicle" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
