Crossword Genius

Peers out on small binges (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

sprees

'binges' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'peers out on small' is the wordplay.
'out' is an anagram indicator (out can mean wrong or inaccurate).
'on' says to put letters next to each other.
'small' becomes 's' (abbreviation - e.g. clothes size).
'peers' with letters rearranged gives 'spree'.
'spree'+'s'='SPREES'

(Other definitions for sprees that I've seen before include "Periods of fun, extravagance or excess" , "Brief indulgences of impulses" , "Binges" , "Flings indulging impulses, shopping say" , "Brief flings, in the shops, say" .)

I've seen this clue in The Mirror.
