(I've seen this before)

'quiet' becomes 'temp' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'missing' suggests deleting specific letters.
'answer' becomes 'a' (abbreviation eg in Q and A).
'tear' with 'a' removed is 'ter'.
'temp'+'ter'='TEMPTER'
'team shedding a' is the link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may be part of another bit of the clue.
