Crossword Genius

Such a band may have no name (3-3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

one-man

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'such a band may have no' is the definition.
I can't tell whether this definition defines the answer.

'name' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
an anagram of 'name' is 'nema' which is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'on' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Another definition for one-man that I've seen is " (Of show) performed by a single person".)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
