Ross

I believe the answer is:

incurs

'beastly types' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their -s form, I cannot see how one could define the other.

'suffers at home' is the wordplay.
'suffers' becomes 'curs' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'at' means one lot of letters go next to another (I've seen this in other clues).
'home' becomes 'in' ('he's home' can mean 'he's in').
'curs' put after 'in' is 'INCURS'.

'with' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for incurs that I've seen before include "contracts" , "Brings upon oneself" , "Becomes liable (to) - suffers" , "Brings on oneself as consequence" , "Sustains" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
