Crossword Genius

Upturn in something to drink acceptable for antelope (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

reebok

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'antelope' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'upturn in something to drink acceptable' is the wordplay.
'upturn in' shows that the letters should be reversed in order.
'something to drink' becomes 'beer' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'acceptable' becomes 'OK' (OK can mean acceptable or fine).
'beer' written backwards gives 'reeb'.
'reeb'+'ok'='REEBOK'

'for' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for reebok that I've seen before include "African runner" , "South African animal" , "South African antelope (E, not H)" , "Antelope of southern Africa" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
