Crossword Genius

Winning team inside pushing forward (13)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

prepossessing

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'forward' is the definition.
Both the answer and definition are adjectives. Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'winning team inside pushing' is the wordplay.
'winning' is an insertion indicator.
'team inside' becomes 'posse' (I have seen 'legal team' mean 'posse' so perhaps 'team' could also mean 'posse'. I am not sure about the 'inside' bit.**).
'pushing' becomes 'pressing' (pressing is a kind of pushing).
'posse' inserted within 'pressing' is 'PREPOSSESSING'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for prepossessing that I've seen before include "winning" , "looking good" , "Attractive" , "Fetching" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
