I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'base receiving' is the definition.
I know nothing about this answer so I can't tell whether this works.

'warning after cream tea curdled when still edible?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'warning' could be 'fore' (shouted in golf) and 'fore' is located in the answer.
'cream' could be 'best' (I've seen this before) and 'best' is found within the answer.
an anagram of 'tea' is 'ate' which is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'bed' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Another definition for best-before date that I've seen is " Food freshness indicator".)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
