I believe the answer is:

justice

'fairness' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'it's only something from the freezer' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'only' could be 'just' (synonyms) and 'just' is present in the answer.
'freezer' could be 'ice' (something which 'freezes') and 'ice' is found in the answer.
This accounts for all the letters.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

'in' is the link.

(Other definitions for justice that I've seen before include "amends" , "Judge, magistrate" , "Courts' function" , "Fairness, legitimacy" , "Administration of law" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish Times.
