One feeling for a six-footer? (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

antenna

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'one feeling for a' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot understand how they can define each other.

'six-footer?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'six-footer?' could be 'ant' (ants have six feet) and 'ant' is found in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for antenna that I've seen before include "one feels" , "Insect's feeler" , "Feeling part" , "Insect's sensory appendage" , "What detects signals" .)

I've seen this clue in The Sun.
