Crossword Genius

A refreshing place (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

tearoom

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'a refreshing place' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot understand how one could define the other.

'refreshing place' is the wordplay.
'refreshing' becomes 'tea' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should believe this answer much more).
'place' becomes 'room' (I've seen this before).
'tea'+'room'='TEAROOM'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for tearoom that I've seen before include "Small restaurant" , "Place for light refreshments" , "Place in which a cuppa is served" , "Cafeteria" , "24" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
