Crossword Genius

An attractive kind of accent (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

acute

'kind of accent' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'an attractive' is the wordplay.
'an' becomes 'a'.
'attractive' becomes 'cute' (similar in meaning).
'a'+'cute'='ACUTE'

(Other definitions for acute that I've seen before include "Sharp like angle" , "Very perceptive, having sharp mind" , "less than right" , "Shrewd; serious" , "Sharp, angle or mind" .)

I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail.
