I believe the answer is:
koala
'antipodean native' is the definition.
'koala' can be an answer for 'native' (I have seen 'Australian native' mean 'koala' so perhaps 'native' could also mean 'koala'). I'm not certain of the 'antipodean' bit.
'resembling teddy' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'resembling' could be 'ala' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'ala' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ko' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
