Ross

I believe the answer is:

ibsen

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'barges in losing rag' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot understand how one could define the other.

'writer associated with the pillars of society' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'writer' could be 'i' (the person who is writing these clues) and 'i' is found within the answer.
'society' could be 's' (common abbreviation in names of organisations) and 's' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ben' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

'with' is the link.

(Other definitions for ibsen that I've seen before include "Norwegian author of 'Peer Gynt' etc" , "Norwegian dramatist and poet" , "Hedda Gabler author" , "Linesman" , "See 7 Down" .)

I've seen this clue in the Irish Times (Crosaire) and The Irish Times.
