Biblical man sounds competent (4)
I believe the answer is:
abel
'biblical man' is the definition.
'Abel' can be an answer for 'man' (I have seen 'Third Man' mean 'abel' so perhaps 'man' could also mean 'abel'). I am unsure of the 'biblical' bit.
I don't understand the remainder of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for abel that I've seen before include "Son of Adam and Eve" , "First shepherd" , "Cain slew him" , "fellow killed by brother" , "Brother killed by Cain" .)
