Ross

I believe the answer is:

superstar

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'celebrity' is the definition.
(I know that superstar is a type of star)

'supper with sailor then softly slips away' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'sailor' could be 'tar' (slang term for a sailor) and 'tar' is present in the answer.
'softly' could be 'p' (short for piano, musical term for softly) and 'p' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'suers' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'has' acts as a link.

(Other definitions for superstar that I've seen before include "Dazzling virtuoso" , "top celebrity" , "Extremely famous performer" , "Big name" , "Celeb" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
