(I know that champion can be written as title-holder)
'a heading' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'heading' could be 'title' (title is a kind of heading) and 'title' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'holder' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
