Charges a rector getting into dispute (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

tariff

'charges' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'a rector getting into dispute' is the wordplay.
'rector' becomes 'r'.
'getting into' indicates putting letters inside.
'dispute' becomes 'tiff' (tiff is a kind of dispute).
'a'+'r'='ar'
'ar' put within 'tiff' is 'TARIFF'.

(Other definitions for tariff that I've seen before include "Bill of fare" , "Import or export duty" , "Customs-duty" , "List of fixed charges as in hotel" , "List of fixed charges as in hotels" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
