'clear word' is the definition.
'distinct' can be an answer for 'clear' (I've seen this before). I'm unsure of the 'word' bit.

'idiots turning up in dictionary' is the wordplay.
'idiots' becomes 'nits' (nit can mean a stupid person).
'turning up' is a reversal indicator.
'in' is an insertion indicator.
'dictionary' becomes 'dict'.
'nits' back-to-front is 'stin'.
'stin' put into 'dict' is 'DISTINCT'.

'for' is the link.
