Crossword Genius

Cut interest accruing to money (10)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

silverside

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'cut interest' is the definition.
'silverside' can be an answer for 'cut' (I've seen this before). I'm unsure of the 'interest' bit.

'accruing to money' is the wordplay.
'accruing' becomes 'side' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'to' says to put letters next to each other (I've seen this in other clues).
'money' becomes 'silver' (as in pieces of silver).
'side' put after 'silver' is 'SILVERSIDE'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for silverside that I've seen before include "Crown of a round of beef cut from the leg" , "Joint" , "piece of meat" , "Cut of meat" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
