Crossword Genius

Cycling outing abandoned by Mr Turner's partner (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

bride

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'partner' is the definition.
(I know that bride is a type of honeymooner)

'cycling outing abandoned by mr turner's' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'outing' could be 'ride' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'ride' is found within the answer.
A single letter 'b' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for bride that I've seen before include "Marriageable woman" , "One getting married" , "new union member" , "The Woman In White, perhaps?" , "Wedding day woman" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
