I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'e g' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how one could define the other.

'a claret i decanted' is the wordplay.
'claret i' can be anagrammed to 'ARTICLE'.
However, I'm not clear how this is indicated.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for article that I've seen before include "Newspaper feature or a separate thing" , "Commodity" , "leader" , "A rewritten piece" , "It may be the" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
