I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'embarrassment' is the definition.
(I know that chagrin is a type of embarrassment)

'cleaner at home hoovers dog's tail' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'at' could be 'in' (synonymous in some cases - eg at school, in school) and 'in' is found within the answer.
'home' could be 'h' (abbreviation as used in sports fixtures) and 'h' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'when' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for chagrin that I've seen before include "Feeling of annoyance and embarrassment" , "Shame at having failed" , "Humiliation, mortification" , "Arching with annoyance and embarrassment" , "Embarrassment - rich nag (anag)" .)
