Crossword Genius

Energy in sliced pork for guiding light (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

beacon

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'guiding light' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'energy in sliced pork' is the wordplay.
'energy' becomes 'AC' (AC is an example).
'in' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'sliced pork' becomes 'beon' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'ac' put into 'beon' is 'BEACON'.

'for' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for beacon that I've seen before include "make light of it" , "Prominent light on a hill" , "Guiding light?" , "Hilltop signal fire" , "Warning light on tower or hill" .)

I've seen this clue in The Sun.
