Crossword Genius

Enjoy archaeology (3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

dig

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This might be a double definition.

'enjoy' is the first definition.
(to dig can mean to appreciate or 'get')

'archaeology' is the second definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot see how they can define each other.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for dig that I've seen before include "Excavate - enjoy" , "what archaeologists do" , "Jibe" , "'Between my finger and my thumb / the squat pen rests / I'll ... with it' (Seamus Heaney)" , "critical remark" .)

I've seen this clue in The Mirror.
