I believe the answer is:

three-legged race

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'event' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'people are bound to take part in' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'people' could be 'race' (people can mean a national group or race) and 'race' is located in the answer.
'take' could be 'r' (abbreviation for 'recipe', Latin for 'take') and 'r' is found within the answer.
'bound' could be 'heel' (heel is a kind of bound) and 'heel' is found within the remaining letters.
'part' could be 'egg' (egg is a kind of part) and 'egg' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'ted' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for three-legged race that I've seen before include "Its entrants are bound" , "Sports event for pairs" .)
