Crossword Genius

Everyone taken in by most of band's hype (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

ballyhoo

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'hype' is the definition.
(I know that hype can be written as ballyhoo)

'everyone taken in by most of band's' is the wordplay.
'everyone' becomes 'all' (all people).
'taken in' indicates putting letters inside.
'most of band' becomes 'hoo' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'all' inserted inside 'by' is 'bally'.
'bally'+'hoo'='BALLYHOO'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for ballyhoo that I've seen before include "Hubbub" , "Noisy or sensational publicity, hype" , "Exaggerated fuss" , "Extravagant publicity or fuss" , "fuss about nothing?" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
