Ross

I believe the answer is:

test matches

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'international meetings' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both related to natural events as well as being plural nouns.
Maybe there's an association between them I don't understand?

'experiment with strikes' is the wordplay.
'experiment with' becomes 'test' (synonyms).
'strikes' becomes 'matches' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'test'+'matches'='TEST MATCHES'

'in' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for test matches that I've seen before include "competitions" , "Cricket fixtures" , "Give strikers a trial" , "important games" , "they can last for days" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
