Crossword Genius

Flee south with queen, perhaps (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

scat

'flee' is the definition.
(I know that flee is a more specific form of scat)

'south with queen perhaps' is the wordplay.
'south' becomes 's' (abbreviation).
'with' says to put letters next to each other.
'queen perhaps' becomes 'cat' (a female cat is a queen).
's'+'cat'='SCAT'

(Other definitions for scat that I've seen before include "improvisation in jazz" , "One way of singing" , "vocal style?" , "Type of jazz singing - be off!" , ""Beat It"" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
