Crossword Genius

Flower from flipping digital assistant (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

iris

'flower' is the definition.
(iris is a type of flower)

'flipping digital assistant' is the wordplay.
'flipping' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'digital assistant' becomes 'siri' (assistant on Apple devices).
'siri' backwards is 'IRIS'.

'from' is the link.

(Other definitions for iris that I've seen before include "Coloured part of the lamp" , "Camera diaphragm" , "In the middle of which pupil is opening" , "Eye part or attractive flower" , "Garden flower - part of eye" .)

I've seen this clue in The Everyman puzzle in The Observer.
