'host bringing in beer also carrying british' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'british' could be 'b' (abbreviation e.g. in 'BBC') and 'b' is found within the answer.
'beer' could be 'ale' (type of beer) and 'ale' is located in the leftover letters.
'host' could be 'mc' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'mc' is present in the remaining letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
