How fashionable groups get around? (2,7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

in circles

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'around?' is the definition.
(thesaurus)

'how fashionable groups' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'fashionable' could be 'in' (in can mean fashionable or trendy) and 'in' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'circles' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'get' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Another definition for in circles that I've seen is " Going round thus is getting nowhere".)

I've seen this clue in The Irish Independent.
