Crossword Genius

I would like tips for doing nothing (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

idle

'doing nothing' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'i would like tips' is the wordplay.
'i would' becomes 'I'd'.
'tips' says to hollow out the word (remove centre letters) (just the outer letters of the world).
'like' with its centre taken out is 'le'.
'id'+'le'='IDLE'

'for' acts as a link.

(Other definitions for idle that I've seen before include "staying in bed all day?" , "Mike" , "jobless" , "Not used to work" , "Monty Python's Eric, b. 1943" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
